Good Search

money_dollarWhat if CardioStart earned a penny every time you searched the internet?

Well, now we can! GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by
Yahoo!, so you get great results. Just go to www.goodsearch.com
and be sure to enter CardioStart as the charity you want to support.
Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about $7300
in a year without anyone spending a dime! And, be sure to spread the word!

Suitcase Request

SuitCase_128CardioStart volunteers regularly fill their personal luggage full of supplies to donate and distribute when they arrive at the mission site.  Although CardioStart ships a freight container of donations before each mission, fragile supplies with a short lifespan or close to expiration are hand carried with volunteer travelers.  As airlines restrict the weight limits, it becomes more costly to shepard a suitcase filled with the most critical supplies.  You can partner with CardioStart to enable volunteers to continue their critical work.  To learn more, please click here.

Honorio Delgado Hospital

HospitalRed2-128In the fall of 2009, volunteers began to create the first ever Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in the area.  This will be a place for children to heal and grow.  With your generous donations to the project, we were able to pipe water into the new room and bring in electricity allowing staff access to the basic principles of hand hygiene and the ability to monitor patients.  We still need to equip it with oxygen delivery systems, ventilators, cardiac monitors, and enough disposable supplies to keep the unit running long past our visit.  To donate click here.

Portland Fundraiser

pfundraiser2Portland Fundraiser

The Portland volunteers of CardioStart held their first fundraiser on Sept. 9th, and it was a great success.

In just 3 ½ months of planning, volunteers with CardioStart in Portland, OR organized a successful fundraiser. With the help of 30 volunteers, the evening’s events were a silent auction, oral auction, fashion show, and international entertainment. 120 guests enjoyed an international catered buffet dinner.  The silent auction included over 30 items to bid on.  Auctioneer, Laura Michalek, led bidding wars for the oral auction with items such as a day with a gold miner, custom-blown glass goblets, and an Oregon beach getaway. Entertainment included piano playing by nationally accomplished jazz pianist, Chuck Magnuson, Portland Trailblazer A.J. Johnson on drums, a touching recorder solo performed by TK Vu of Minneapolis, and a song from PICU nurse volunteer Diana Scolaro-Cook.
